On Saturday, September 12, the ACCJ Charity Ball Walkathon will take place at the Imperial Palace starting at 9:00 a.m. (registration) with the walk commencing at 10:00 a.m. Starting and ending at Chidorigafuchi Park, participants will walk one 5K-lap around the perimeter. Our sponsors include Allied Pickfords, Coca-Cola, HSBC, Latham & Watkins LLP, Reebok and United Airlines.
How to Signup
If you are up for a challenge and want to spend a day at the Imperial Palace with GPlus Media (creators of GaijinPot) and the rest of the ACCJ community, send an email to walkathon@gaijinpot.com. Please remember to include the following in your email: full name and number of guests (other walkers). After receiving your email, our support team will get back to you with more details about the event.
The ACCJ will inject some competition into the event by awarding prizes at the prize ceremony at 11:30 a.m. to the participants that raised the most in donations: two round-trip tickets to Hawaii on United Airlines, and products from Reebok and Coca-Cola, to the top walkers.
Even if you just come for the walk, everyone will leave with a T-shirt commemorating the event, compliments of Allied Pickfords, along with refreshments from Coca Cola and HSBC.
How to Donate
For those who cannot make it the event – but would still like to participate - the option to make a donation to the charities involved is available. Please access the Ecotech-designed Walkathon Donation Web site sponsored by Latham & Watkins (http://www.accjcharityball.org/teamList). Potential donors can access the web site, locate the desired individual or team, and make pledges through their credit card or Pay Pal account. It is as easy as that. Participants will also be able to see their supporting pledges grow.

- YMCA/ACCJ Ohisama Camp, a Tokyo YMCA Center program held in late summer in cooperation with the ACCJ, where an expected 40 children with learning/developmental disorders can participate in camp activities (http://www1.ymcajapan.org/content/help/challengedchildrenproject);
- No no Hana no Ie, a secure home-like environment for hundreds of children who are the victims of child abuse, neglect and other inhumane treatment (http://www.hanazaki.jp/english/index.html); and
- Waku Waku Workshop, a safe place for those with sight, speech or hearing disabilities to improve their involvement in the community (http://www.mxtv.co.jp/wakuwaku09/).
